The Medical Association of Southeast Asian Nations (MASEAN) Group of Journals (GoJ) is a regional network of medical journal editors dedicated to promoting research quality, publication ethics, and scientific collaboration across Southeast Asia. From 3–6 May 2026, the GoJ convened its seminar and the 21st MASEAN Meeting in Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines. The programme also included the Research on the Cloud: Research Bootcamp 2026 – Publication Preparation Session at Gov. The Medical Journal of Malaysia (MJM) was represented by Prof Dr Victor Hoe Chee Wai, Editor-in-Chief of MJM and Treasurer of MASEAN, and Dr Liew Boon Seng, Editor of MJM and Committee Member of the MASEAN GoJ. Prof Datuk Dr Lekhraj Rampal, Advisor to the MASEAN GoJ, also participated virtually.

As part of the meeting, the GoJ organised a seminar on “Climate Science and Research Literacy”, covering climate change, sustainable healthcare systems, research integrity, and scientific publishing. Prof Dr Victor Hoe delivered a presentation entitled “Creating Ethical Research”, highlighting Good Clinical Practice, responsible authorship, and ethical standards in medical research and publication.

The Research Bootcamp was led by Dr Maria Christina H. Ventura (Martini), President of the MASEAN GoJ, and focused on research development, scientific writing, and publication preparation. Prof Dr Victor Hoe and Dr Liew Boon Seng served as resource persons and were presented with certificates of appreciation by GCGMMC for their contributions.
The meeting and associated activities provided valuable opportunities for collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and journal editors across the region. Participation reinforced MJM’s commitment to research excellence, publication ethics, capacity building, and regional cooperation in advancing medical scholarship and public health.
