The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, will be hosting a Thesis Seminar Presentation as part of its ongoing postgraduate academic activities.

This seminar will feature Ms Hoo Yee Yin, who will present her research titled “Burden of Comorbidities in Individuals with Cancer and Its Impact on Survivorship Outcomes in a Low- and Middle-Income Setting.” The study addresses an increasingly relevant public health concern, particularly in the context of ageing populations and the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries.

The session will be chaired by Dr Lim Sin How, with an expert panel comprising:

  • Professor Dr Noran Naqiah Mohd Hairi
  • Dr Abdul Hanif Bin Mohamad Yahaya

The research is supervised by:

  • Professor Dr Nirmala Bhoo Pathy
  • Adjunct Professor Dr Mahmoud Danaee
  • Professor Dr Bogda Koczwara

This seminar provides an opportunity for academic exchange and critical discussion on cancer survivorship, multimorbidity, and health system implications in resource-constrained settings. It is particularly relevant for public health practitioners, clinicians, and researchers involved in chronic disease management and health services planning.

All staff, students, and interested participants are encouraged to attend.
