The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM) extends our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Lim Yin Cheng and Dr. ‘Abqariyah Yahya@Ahmad Noor on their promotion to Associate Professor.
Both colleagues recently received their promotion letters from Professor Dr. Hasniza Zaman Huri, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Universiti Malaya. This recognition reflects their sustained contributions to public health education, research, and service.

About Dr. Lim Yin Cheng
Dr. Lim’s work focuses on the health impacts of circadian disruption and shift work, including biomarker studies related to cancer, metabolic syndrome, and mental health. His portfolio includes national projects such as a 2021 facial anthropometry study (n≈4,000) to improve respirator fit for Malaysians, multiple ISI-indexed publications presented at ICOH 2024, and editorial/reviewer roles across leading journals. He previously served with DOSH, a district health office, and the Institute for Medical Research (IMR).
About Dr. ‘Abqariyah Yahya@Ahmad Noor
Dr. ‘Abqariyah is an epidemiologist with expertise in biostatistics, environmental epidemiology, and spatial analysis. Her research spans childhood obesity, cardiovascular outcomes (including NCVD-ACS registry studies), mental health, dengue, vitamin D in pregnancy, sarcopenia, and air pollution, supported by national grants and indexed publications. She also contributes through supervision, examining and reviewing, unit leadership, and received a 2024 Certificate of Excellent Service.
