New Leadership at the Centre for Population Health (CePH)

The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, is pleased to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Dr Nik Daliana Nik Farid as the new Head of the Centre for Population Health (CePH). Her leadership marks an exciting new phase in the Centre’s mission to generate impactful, community-oriented public health research and initiatives.

Assoc Prof Dr Nik Daliana is well recognised for her work in family health, social determinants of health, and community-based interventions. Her appointment brings renewed momentum to CePH’s focus on translating population-level data into effective health promotion and disease prevention strategies. Her vision is expected to further strengthen the Centre’s collaborations across academic, governmental, and community sectors.

The department also extends heartfelt gratitude to Professor Dr Wong Li Ping for her dedicated service and leadership as the outgoing Head of CePH. During her tenure, Prof Dr Wong significantly advanced the Centre’s research capacity, multidisciplinary projects, and engagement with diverse population groups—laying a strong foundation for its continued success.

Leadership transitions in academic centres such as CePH are pivotal moments that reflect both continuity and innovation. As public health systems face increasingly complex challenges—from urban health disparities to ageing populations—the leadership of CePH plays a crucial role in shaping responsive, evidence-based approaches to improving population well-being.
