At the recently completed board meeting and Annual General Meeting of the International Social Security Association (ISSA), Section on Prevention in Transportation held in Hamburg, Dr Azlan Darus was elected as Vice-President of the Section. The Department would like to congratulate Dr Azlan on this achievement. Dr Azlan is currently the Head of the Prevention, Medical and Rehabilitation Division, Social Security Organization (SOCSO). Dr Azlan is an alumnus and a medical lecturer with the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. He joined the Master of Public Health programme in 2004 and proceeded to the MPH(Occupational Health) programme in 2005. He completed his studies in 2008 with the MPH and MPH(Occupational Health). On the completion of his studies at UM, he joined the Department as a Medical Lecturer in 2008. In 2012, after serving four years at UM. He continued his career as the Manager, Prevention and Health Promotion Unit, Medical and Rehabilitation Section, Social Security Organization. Dr Azlan continues to support the Department by being a member of the Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health-UM and participating as an invited lecturer for our Master of Public Health programme. In 2023, Dr Azlan was appointed as an ELITE@UM.
