In the headline that appeared in the Sundaily on 17 November 2020, Professor Datuk Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud was concerned about the sporadic cases that are reported in Sabah and Selangor. He said that the large proportion of sporadic infections points to widespread community transmission in Sabah and Selangor.
He said that the time taken for the total number of cases in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to double has stayed the same for three weeks in a row.
He said that with the widespread community transmission, it is difficult to implement the usual containment measures. This has led to a surge in new infections. He also expressed concern that the current measures being taken to curb the spread of Covid-19 have not been working fast enough.
However, Awang Bulgiba said the country should not panic and rush into another movement control order.
The cost will likely be too high
