The Sunday Star’s Education Supplement reported the launch of the European Commission:: Asia-Link programme which will put the University of Malaya “On solid medical grounds“. The Asia Europe Clinical Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Medicine Programme was launched by Prof Khaw Lake Tee the Deputy VC on 19 Nov 2007. The programme is a collaborative effort by Julius Centre, University Medical Centre Utrecht in the Netherlands, Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine of Oxford University, United Kingdom, Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusomo in Jakarta and Department of SPM, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. The paper reiterated the statement of Prof Grobbee on Evidence-Based Medicine; “EBM is about knowing what you are doing as a doctor from research, and not only from intuition and what you hear from a colleague. It’s about being able to find in research what is best for your patients”.
