This 2-day workshop is designed to support postgraduate students in developing a clearer understanding of the expectations and requirements of thesis/dissertation writing. It will provide practical guidance on effective strategies for planning, organising, and producing a high-quality thesis/dissertation. In addition, the workshop aims to strengthen participants’ scientific writing skills, enabling them to communicate their research more clearly, coherently, and academically.
About the Speaker

Honorary Professor Dr Moy Foong Ming
BSc (Hons), MSc, MMedSc Public Health, PhD
Honorary Professor Dr Moy Foong Ming is a Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health with extensive experience in research, scientific writing, and postgraduate supervision. Her academic and research work has been strongly focused on non-communicable diseases, obesity, lifestyle risk factors, workplace wellness, and translational research. She has led and contributed to numerous impactful research projects, including large-scale cohort studies and interdisciplinary research involving nutrition, epidemiology, and digital health innovation.
In addition to her active research portfolio, Professor Moy is deeply committed to nurturing postgraduate scholars. She has successfully supervised a substantial number of Master’s, DrPH, and PhD candidates to completion, and is well recognised for her mentorship in research design, scientific writing, data interpretation, and thesis development. Her guidance has supported many students in producing quality scholarly work and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. With her strong background in epidemiology, evidence-based medicine, and research methodology, Professor Moy brings a wealth of experience in helping postgraduate students navigate the challenges of academic research and thesis writing.
