Dementia, a ticking time bomb for older adults

In a letter to the Star Newspaper, Dr Karthikeyanathan Ramoo our Doctor of Public Health candidate and Dr Feisul Idzwan Mustapha, Consultant public health physician and deputy director, Non-Communicable Disease Section Disease Control Division Health Ministry discuss on the issue of dementia in Malaysia.

They share some tips on how to reduce the risk of getting dementia from setting in during old age.

  • Being physically active is top of the list.
  • Don’t smoke or quit smoking
  • Maintain a healthy diet
  • Do mind stimulation or cognitive stimulation exercises
