The Straits Times Singapore reported that the use of contactless payments and adoption of e-wallets are on the rise during the coronavirus outbreak and movement control order in Malaysia, with some players seeing subscriber numbers double in the last month. Professor Datuk Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud said that the use of e-wallets “may have some effect on the epidemic curve by reducing the amount of physical contact”, but added that it is not known by how much.
