The Participatory Action Research Through Negotiation And Empowerment of the Residents (PARTNER) project was selected by the Wellness Research Cluster, Institute of Research Monitoring & Management to represent the community service for community housing projects being undertaken in UM. A press conference and an exclusive exhibition of the community work done through the PARTNER project were displayed at the exhibition held at the Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Razak, National University Malaysia on the 4th December 2014. The exhibition themed “University and Community” was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Education II, YB Dato Seri Idris Jusoh and had several other local universities representing their community service as well. The team from CePH, UM organized free health screening especially to check blood pressure and body composition. In addition, healthy cooking and exercise demonstration was also displayed as a means to promote a healthy lifestyle. The main aim of the community services was to improve the general well-being and health status of the community by raising awareness of non-communicable diseases among PPR residents and educating the community living on a healthy lifestyle as a preventive measure against chronic diseases. The exhibition organized by the National University Malaysia in collaboration with other universities was indeed a great success.
