Event Type

The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, will organise the Scientific Writing Workshop Series 2026, designed to strengthen postgraduate students’ academic writing and scientific communication skills.

Facilitated by Honorary Professor Dr Moy Foong Ming, the workshop will cover key areas in scientific and thesis writing, including fundamentals of scientific writing, academic English, literature review, research methodology and data presentation, discussion and conclusion writing, as well as the responsible use of AI in thesis and scientific writing.

Through interactive lectures, hands-on writing activities, group discussions, and peer-review exercises, participants will gain practical guidance to improve thesis quality, strengthen critical thinking, and enhance confidence in scientific communication.

• 9 July 2026 – Research Questions and Literature Review
• 16 July 2026 – Research Methodology and Data Presentation

• 5 August 2026 – Responsible Use of AI in Thesis and Scientific Writing

This workshop is FREE OF CHARGE and EXCLUSIVELY for postgraduate students (PhD) from the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine who wish to enhance their scientific writing competencies and improve publication and thesis writing outcomes.
