As one of the affiliate sites with Cochrane Malaysia, the Centre of Epidemiology & Evidence-Based Practice (CEBP), would like to invite you to attend the Cochrane Malaysia 10th anniversary celebration on 26 September 2024.
An undergraduate inter-varsity team competition on “Communicating Evidence to Empower Informed Decision-Making” will also be conducted in conjunction with the celebration.
The competition involves students creatively producing a 5-minute video that will showcase how healthcare professionals can use a Cochrane plain language summary in a clinical setting to help patients make evidence-based informed decisions about their healthcare plans. The competition is open to medical and other allied health undergraduates.
The objectives of the competition are to:
1. Increase awareness about Cochrane evidence as a trusted source of information.
2. Improve skills in communicating evidence.
3. Promote consideration of patients’ needs and perspectives in communication strategies.
4. Foster teamwork, leadership skills and creativity among students.
5. Promote university’s commitment to evidence-based healthcare.
The competition will culminate in a workshop Systematic Reviews Made Easy on 26 September 2024, 9 am – 12.30 pm at Avante Hotel, Bandar Utama, Selangor. Winners will be announced during the Cochrane Malaysia 10th Anniversary Celebration. Prizes will be presented by the guest of honour (Minister of Health, Malaysia).
The top 5 teams will be showcased during the workshop and have an opportunity to hear feedback from judges that will determine the final prizes.
- First prize: Cash USD 300 (approximately RM 1500)
- Second prize: Cash RM 300
- 3 consolation prizes Cash RM150
Participation fee: RM100 per team (includes workshop fees, tea break & lunch)
All participating teams will receive a certificate of participation.
