A collaborative health programme between Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) was successfully held at Dewan Pendekar, UPNM, on 3 October 2026, providing children aged 7–12 with access to free anaemia screening and dengue vaccination.
Led by Professor Dr Rafdzah Ahmad Zaki, the Universiti Malaya (UM) medical team conducted anaemia screening for 57 children, while 38 children received dengue vaccination. The programme brought health services closer to the community, supporting early detection of anaemia and dengue prevention.
The initiative reflects UM and UPNM’s shared commitment to community health and well-being. By bringing together medical expertise, institutional support and community participation, the collaboration demonstrates how universities can extend their contributions beyond teaching and research to deliver practical benefits for children and families.
We extend our sincere appreciation to UPNM’s Faculty of Medicine and Defence Health, UPNM Health Centre and the wider UPNM community for their collaboration and support. Our heartfelt thanks also go to the UM medical team, all supporting personnel and volunteers, and the participating children and their families for making the programme a success.
