The Orang Asli Health Issue (OAHS) Supplement is now published in the Asia-Pacific Journal of Public Health (APJPH).
Led by the Institute for Public Health, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Ministry of Health, Malaysia, the supplement brings together research based on the Orang Asli Health Survey (OAHS) 2022, providing a comprehensive picture of health among Orang Asli communities in Peninsular Malaysia. The nationwide survey covered 68 villages and achieved an 89.8% response rate.
The supplement explores a wide range of issues, including health status and inequalities, tobacco and alcohol use, non-communicable diseases, maternal and reproductive health, childhood nutrition, vaccination and tuberculosis.
Together, these studies provide important evidence better to understand the health needs of Orang Asli communities and inform more targeted and equitable health policies and interventions.
