The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, welcomed Brigadier General Dato’ (Dr.) Mohd Farid bin Alias and Lt Col Dr Shazwani Mohamad on 10 August 2026 for a discussion on a public health programme for children in military camps.
Brigadier General Dato’ (Dr.) Mohd Farid, who serves as Director-General of the Health Cell (Ketua Pengarah Sel Kesihatan), Army Headquarters (Markas Tentera Darat), is an alumnus of the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme at Universiti Malaya. Lt Col Dr Shazwani is currently completing her MPH studies at the Department.
During their visit, they met with Professor Dr Rafdzah Ahmad Zaki and Associate Professor Dr Lim Yin Cheng to discuss the public health programme for children in military camps.
They also paid a courtesy visit to Professor Dr Victor Hoe, Head of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine.
The visit provided an opportunity for discussion and engagement between the Department and representatives of the military health services on public health initiatives involving children in military communities.
The Department thanks Brigadier General Dato’ (Dr.) Mohd Farid and Lt Col Dr Shazwani for their visit.
