Delong Public Health Forum 2025: Advancing Public Health Through Global Collaboration

The Delong Public Health Forum, held on 19 October 2025 as part of the Shanghai Medical Forum, convened global experts at Fudan University to explore emerging trends and challenges in public health. With the overarching theme “Global Health Vision: Forging Collaborations for the Future of Universal Precision Medicine,” the forum offered a multidisciplinary platform for dialogue, innovation, and policy reflection.

A Multidimensional Forum for Global Health

Organised by the School of Public Health, Fudan University, alongside regional and international partners, the forum featured three parallel sub-forums:

  1. Infectious and Chronic Disease Prevention and Control
  2. Environment, Occupation, Nutrition, and Health
  3. Health Policy and Management through South-South Cooperation

Each sub-forum hosted keynote presentations and panel discussions that addressed urgent global issues—from data science integration and viral disease burden to climate-related health vulnerabilities and cross-border policy frameworks.

A notable highlight was the roundtable on “Public Health Defence under Climate Change,” where experts debated strategies to build climate-resilient health systems that integrate environmental, occupational, and nutritional dimensions.

Global Expertise, Local Relevance

The forum gathered over 30 speakers from leading institutions across Asia, Africa, and Europe. Discussions emphasised:

  • Cross-sector collaboration to bridge gaps between public health, occupational safety, and environmental science.
  • Digital health innovation for improving surveillance, early warning systems, and healthcare delivery.
  • Equity-focused approaches for protecting vulnerable populations, including informal workers and women in high-risk environments.

Among the distinguished speakers, Prof Victor Hoe from the University of Malaya contributed insights on the progress and challenges of occupational health in Malaysia, adding a Southeast Asian perspective to the global discourse.

A Platform for Future Partnerships

Beyond knowledge exchange, the Delong Public Health Forum served as a launchpad for new collaborations. By aligning academic, policy, and community-based efforts, the event reinforced the need for resilient public health systems grounded in equity, innovation, and global solidarity.
