Welcome Dr Mila Nu Nu Htay to the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine

We are pleased to welcome Dr Mila Nu Nu Htay, who officially joined the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya on 14 August 2025. Dr Mila brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise in public health, family medicine, and medical education, and will contribute to both the Family Health and Health Services Management disciplines.

Dr Mila is an alumnus of the Department with a PhD in Public Health under the supervision of Prof Dr Tin Tin Su and Prof Dr Maznah Dahlui. In addition, she has multiple postgraduate qualifications from leading UK institutions, including the University of Edinburgh and the University of Liverpool. She has published extensively, with more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, and has served on editorial boards and as a peer reviewer for high-impact journals such as The Lancet and Frontiers in Public Health.

Previously, Dr Mila served as an Assistant Professor at Manipal University College Malaysia, where she led postgraduate curriculum development and contributed to research and capacity building in community health. She is also known for her international collaborative work on digital health literacy, mental health, and health service accessibility for vulnerable populations, particularly migrant workers.

Her appointment strengthens our department’s mission to advance evidence-based practices in public and occupational health, and to nurture the next generation of health professionals and researchers.
