Prof. Mas Ayu, currently serving as the Head of the Public Health Department at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and Coordinator for the Master of Epidemiology Programme, has made significant contributions to public health, both as a leader and researcher. Her work spans mental health and psychopharmacology, including studies on the side effects of metabolic syndrome in schizophrenia treatment and alcohol use, particularly its effects on pregnant women. She has also been instrumental in addressing vector-borne diseases, such as Chikungunya and Dengue Fever, through innovative collaborations like the Malaysia-Sweden Research Link on dengue early warning systems.

Prof. Dr. Mas Ayu Said’s remarkable academic journey is a true testament to her dedication, perseverance, and exceptional contributions to the fields of epidemiology, mental health, and public health research. Graduating as a medical doctor from the Universiti Malaya in 1995, she embarked on a path that has left a profound impact on academia, research, and community health. She went on to complete her Master of Public Health with distinction and earned a PhD in Psychiatric Epidemiology, both from the Universiti Malaya, solidifying her expertise in addressing critical public health challenges.

A dedicated educator, mentor, and consultant epidemiologist, Prof. Mas Ayu has played a pivotal role in advancing public health research, education, and policy, while inspiring the next generation of health professionals.
