The Department would like to congratulate Dr Rafdzah Ahmad Zaki on her promotion to Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health
Dr. Rafdzah Ahmad Zaki has recently been promoted to full Professor at Universiti Malaya, recognizing her significant contributions to epidemiology and public health. A graduate of the University of Liverpool with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Dr. Rafdzah furthered her expertise with a Master of Public Health and a Doctorate of Public Health from the University of Malaya. Her advanced training includes Evidence-Based Medicine at the University of Oxford, Clinical Epidemiology at University Medical Centre Utrecht, and Mathematical Modelling in Epidemiology and Infectious Disease Control at Imperial College London.
Dr. Rafdzah has secured notable research grants, such as the Swedish Research Link grant for developing an early warning system for dengue in Malaysia in partnership with Umea University, Sweden. Additionally, she has been awarded the Newton Fund Institutional Linkage grant for a big data research project on dengue, collaborating with the Faculty of Computer Science & Technology at UM and the University of Nottingham, UK.
An active community leader, Dr. Rafdzah is deeply involved in the Malaysian Care for Adolescent Project (MyCAP), contributing to the development of its website and initiatives. Her work has been instrumental in establishing the University of Malaya as the Clearinghouse Centre for Adolescent Health in Malaysia, under the endorsement of the Ministry of Health. Through these achievements, Dr. Rafdzah has distinguished herself as a leader in her field and an advocate for public health initiatives.
