The Master of Health Policy and Administration Degree Program, Faculty of Public Health, Airlangga University, Indonesia has been a driving force in promoting knowledge exchange and innovation in the field of healthcare administration since 2018 through its annual event, the International Conference of Health Administration and Policy (ICoHAP).

The 5th edition of this remarkable gathering was held from 4th to 6th October 2023, at Dyandra Convention Center, Surabaya, Indonesia. Associate Professor Dr Farizah Mohd Hairi was invited as one of the speakers at the 5th ICoHAP. She shared her invaluable insights on the theme of “How C.A.R.E.S. can improve the efficiency of public hospital management.” The C.A.R.E.S. framework, elucidated during her presentation, serves as a guiding light for healthcare managers, offering a comprehensive approach to navigating the intricacies of hospital administration. This framework underscores the importance of a strong foundation for effective leadership through a deep understanding of hospital management, addressing challenges proactively, and providing innovative solutions for cost containment, adequate staffing, regulatory compliance, ensuring patient safety, and successful technology integration – represented by the acronym C.A.R.E.S.
