Ng Yit Han has successfully defended his PhD thesis at Universiti Malaya, focusing on developing a Healthy Lifestyle Index (HLI) to predict Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) risk among Malaysian teachers. His research addressed the growing public health issue of T2DM in Malaysia, particularly within the teaching profession, and involved an extensive eight-year follow-up study. Key findings indicated that waist circumference and physical activity were crucial lifestyle factors linked to T2DM. The HLI demonstrated strong predictive capabilities, contributing valuable insights to public health policy and encouraging lifestyle interventions in occupational health. His work signifies a noteworthy advancement in public health research.
