The Department would like to congratulate Darishiani Paramasivam for being awarded the Faculty of Medicine, Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme. She is currently in her second year of candidature of the Doctoral Programme (PhD) at the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. The title of her PhD is “Cultural Adaptation and Evaluation of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Raising Mass Media Campaign in Malaysia”. Her supervisors are Prof Dr Maznah Dahlui from the Department and Prof Dr Tin Tin Su from the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine & Health Sciences, Monash University, Malaysia. She has already submitted a manuscript on Systematic Review to the Journal of Family Practice.
The Faculty of Medicine, Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme covers the programme’s tuition fees of the finalists starting semester 2 (2020/2021). The total funding for this cycle is RM56,124.00. The funding was possible through generous contributions from Tan Sri Dato’ Koo Yuen Kim (Perfect China Co. Ltd), Tan Sri Dato’ Lim Kuang Sia (Yayasan Kossan), Dr Chia Song Kun (QL Resources Berhad), and Mr Chiang Sang Sem (Bonia Corporation Bhd).
The other recipients of the scholarship are Nur-Amanina Syariff Tan from Department of Physiology, Lew Sze Yuen from the Department of Anatomy, Ng Jun Bin from the Department of Biomedical Science, Nisheljeet Singh A/L Joginder Singh from the Department of Parasitology, Lai Hwa Yu from the Department of Orthopaedics Surgery, and Muhammad Izzuddin Mohd Ropidi from Department of Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine University of Malaya.
