The Prime Minister of Malaysia has just announced that a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will start from next Monday. In the new CMCO, almost all businesses will be allowed to operate, however, they must follow some conditions and standard operating procedures. According to Associate Professor Dr Nirmala Bhoo Pathy in her interview with Code Blue Galencentre news portal, Malaysia may be heading down a slippery slope as the standard operating procedure are mere documents. If there is no training and engagement, we may risk undoing all the sacrifices from the previous movement control orders (MCO). She projected a peak of Covid-19 cases around Hari Raya, and highlighted that it could potentially overwhelm Malaysia’s health care system.
