The first workshop organised under the Asia Europe Clinical Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Medicine Programme, “Advance Diagnostic Research: Theory and Practice” was held from 20-22 November 2007 in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. The workshop was organised jointly by the Julius Centre, University Medical Centre Utrecht, the Netherlands and the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine.
The workshop included lectures and statistical computing session by distinguishing faculty from the Julius Centre, which included Professor Diederick E. Grobbee, Professor Y. Van Der Graaf, Professor Hoes, A. W. and Prof Karel G.M. Moons.
The workshop consisted of the following topics,
Session 1: Principles and Design of a Diagnostic Study (Lecture)
Session 2: Designing a Diagnostic study (Practicum)
Session 3: Recognizing heart failure in COPD (Clinical application)
Session 4: Group presentations: Design (Practicum)
Session 5: Basic analysis of a diagnostic study (Lecture)
Session 6: SPSS Workshop (Practicum)
Session 8: Advanced analysis of a diagnostic study (Lecture)
Session 9: Workshop on advanced analysis of diagnostic study (Practicum)
Session 10: Group presentations: analysis (Practicum)
There was seventy-five participants from the Ministry of Health and Universities. The participants consisted of Professors, lecturers, clinician, dentists, researchers and Master candidates. There will be more workshop on Clinical Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Medicine which will be organised over the next three years.
