Advancing Curriculum Quality: MPH & DrPH Curriculum Review Workshops

The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine successfully conducted curriculum review workshops for the Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) programmes on 22 and 23 September 2025 at the Wyndham Grand Bangsar Kuala Lumpur. These sessions aimed to enhance programme quality and ensure alignment with the latest educational standards, including Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Blended Learning (Pembelajaran Teradun Gantian, PTG) requirements.

Key Focus Areas

Across both days, departmental academic staff reviewed course learning outcomes, mapped them to programme outcomes, and examined ways to strengthen sustainability content. Disciplines represented included Family Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Policy and Management, and Occupational and Environmental Health.

In the DrPH session, Dr Kee Boon Pin, Faculty Quality Manager from the Department of Biomedical Science, provided a comprehensive briefing on PTG and ESD documentation. He clarified that all courses must ensure 30-60% of content is delivered through blended learning formats, encompassing teaching, coursework, and assessment, and that this threshold applies across the full programme as well.

Strengthening Sustainable Public Health Education

These workshops reflect the department’s continued commitment to delivering relevant, high-quality public health education. The inclusion of ESD and PTG components ensures our programmes remain current, flexible, and responsive to global health education trends.

Acknowledgements

We extend our sincere thanks to all departmental staff for their active participation and to Dr Kee Boon Pin for his valuable contribution to enhancing our understanding of PTG implementation.
