On 27 May 2025, the NARCC (Nicotine Addiction Research Group) team proudly took the stage at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF) at World Trade Centre (WTC) to launch three impactful publications aimed at advancing tobacco control, advocacy, and research literacy.
The first book, Guidebook for HEBAT Training of Trainers, was led by Associate Professor Dr Amani Natasha Ahmad Tajuddin highlights the peer-to-peer advocacy model that has empowered hundreds of youths across Malaysia and the Maldives. Associate Professor Amani also spearheaded the second title, Generational Endgame 2040: A Smoking and Vaping Prevention Advocacy Handbook for Educators and Advocators, co-edited with Muhammad Ikmal Bin Ahmad Rashiden, who presented the book during the launch. This handbook offers practical tools and culturally responsive strategies for educators and community leaders working toward a tobacco-free generation.
The third book, Conducting Scientific Research for Beginners, was authored by Dr Siti Idayu Hasan, Associate Professor Dr Farizah Mohd Hairi, and Muhammad Arif Daniel, a medical student from Universiti Malaya. Dr Farizah represented Dr Ayu at the launch, sharing insights on how the book demystifies research for early-career scholars and students.
The event was a proud moment for the NARCC team, showcasing the department’s commitment to knowledge translation, youth empowerment, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Each book reflects the team’s dedication to public health education and advocacy, and their continued efforts to shape a healthier, tobacco-free future.
Adding to the celebration, two Master of Public Health students, Rathiruba Selvaraju and Nurhanis, also launched their eBook project titled Rise, Reflect, Lead: A Guide to Healthcare Management.
