The Department is proud to announce that Dr. Ismuni Bohari, an esteemed alumnus of Universiti Malaya, has been appointed as the Director of the Kedah State Health Department, effective from 20 May 2024. This significant achievement marks a new chapter in his illustrious career in the field of public health.

Dr. Ismuni Bohari’s graduated with a degree of Doctor of Medicine from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He began his postgraduate education at Universiti Malaya in 2002, where he joined the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme and then continued with the Master of Public Health (Health Services Management) degree, which is a professional degree and graduated in 2006.

Dr. Ismuni is a Public Health Medicine Specialist registered with the National Specialist Register (NSR). His qualifications and dedication to the field of public health have established him as a respected figure in the fraternity.

Dr. Ismuni Bohari’s professional journey is as impressive as his academic achievements. With a career spanning over two decades, he has accumulated extensive experience in various facets of healthcare management and public health. After completing his postgraduate training at Universiti Malaya, Dr. Ismuni began his career at the Quality and Standard Unit, Office of The Deputy Director General of Health (Public Health), within the Public Health Program. Here, he played a crucial role in enhancing the quality and standards of public health services and education across the nation.

Dr. Ismuni’s leadership abilities and dedication to public health led to his appointment as the Director of the Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan Health Office. In this role, he was instrumental in implementing public health policies and programs that significantly improved health outcomes of the health of the people in Labuan. His outstanding contributions during his tenure in Labuan earned him widespread recognition and respect, where he also reived the Commissioner General Medal and Tokoh Maal Hijrah Frontliner awards at the Federal Territories Level.

Following his successful stint in Labuan, Dr. Ismuni was appointed as the Director of the Perlis State Health Department. His tenure in Perlis was marked by strategic initiatives and effective health programs that further solidified his reputation as a capable and visionary leader in public health.

Now, as he takes on the new role of Director of the Kedah State Health Department, we are confident that Dr. Ismuni Bohari will continue to uphold the highest standards of excellence and integrity. His extensive experience, combined with his visionary leadership, will undoubtedly contribute to the betterment of the healthcare system in Kedah.
