The Conjoint Board of Public Health Medicine is an organisation under the Conjoint Committee for Postgraduate Medical Degrees, Deans Council, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. The role of the Conjoint Board of Public Health Medicine is to develop and review the standards for Public Health Medicine Medical specialist training in Malaysia. The members of the Conjoint Board consist of the seven public universities that offered the Master of Public Health and Doctor of Public Health Programme. They include Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Univesiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UniMAS), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Universiti Institute Teknologi Mara (UiTM).
The members of the Conjoint Board paid a courtesy visit to Datuk Dr Norhayati Rusli, the Deputy Director General of Health (Public Health), Ministry of Health Malaysia at her office in Putrajaya on 2nd December 2022. The visit was led by the Chairman of the Conjoint Board, Associate Professor Dr Syed Sharizman Syed Abdul Rahim from UMS, and representatives from other universities, Professor Dr Victor Hoe from UM, Associate Professor Dr Rozita Hod from UKM, Dr Norliza Binti Ahmad from UPM, Professor Dr Rasitasam Safii from UniMAS, and Dr Zahir Izuan Azhar from UiTM.
The aim of the visit was to introduce the activities of the Conjoint Board of Public Health Medicine and to discuss the way forward. It also included the discussion of collaboration opportunities between the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the Conjoint Board and the individual universities.
