The department welcomes the initiative from the Vice-Chancellor University of Malaya to clean and beautify the campus area to welcome the students this new semester. The Gotong Royong Perdana Universiti Malaya was held on 6 October 2021 with the consent of the university management.
The programme began at 9 in the morning with more than half of the staff of the department participating, led by our Head of Department, Prof Dr Victor Hoe.
The main purpose of gotong royong is to clean and rearrange furniture, equipment, and facilities in the student lounge such as refrigerator, microwave, locker room, whiteboard, window blind curtains, tables, chairs, and sofas. All these things need to be cleaned and maintained as it has not been used for a long time since the beginning of the Movement Control Order (MCO) period back in March 2020.
We have also cleaned the lecture halls and plan to do some maintenance such as repainting walls, repairing chairs, and upgrading computer software, and technological equipment in preparation for this semester’s teaching and learning sessions which will be conducted in hybrid mode (face-to-face and online).
We wish to welcome the postgraduate candidates to the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya for the Semester 2021/2022.
