The newly formed Public Health Advocacy Alliance together with the Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) organised the Webinar on Addressing COVID-19 Risk at the Workplace on the11 March 2021. The Public Health Advocacy Alliance is an alliance of academicians, scientists and professionals in public health and related field. Its aim to promote and create awareness on national and global public health issues among professionals, scientists and the public. It is to advocate the diligent use of science and information by stakeholders and the public to impact critical decision-making.
The session started with a talk by Prof Dr Jamal Hisham Hashim from the Universiti Selangor on “Third-wave COVID-19 epidemic in Malaysia: MCO, emergency and workplace clusters”. Prof Dr Victor Hoe Chee Wai form the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya spoke on the topic “Understanding risk of COVID-19 transmission at the Workplace”. This was followed by the talk by Prof Dr Krishna Gopal Rampal from the University of Cyberjaya on “Protection of migrant workers’ rights during the COVID-19 pandemic”, Prof Dr Zailina Hashim from the Universiti Putra Malaysia on “Workers’ housing and risk of COVID-19 transmission” and Dr Siti Aisah Mokhtar on “COVID-19 vaccination programme: Challenges for foreign workers.”
There were more than 150 people who attended the live session on Facebook.
