The statement by YB Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, Senior Minister of Defence in the press conference on 12 October 2020 and the decision of the National Security Council Special Meeting regarding the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya effective 14 October until 27 October 2020 are referred. In line with the above, the Universiti Malaya (UM) main campus shall be closed with the exception of the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
The following are measures implemented in keeping with the CMCO:
(1) Matters related to Students
(a) All teaching and learning (T&L) activities shall be conducted fully online.
(b) All student activities are immediately rescinded.
(c) Students must complete the Residential College Entry and Exit Form should there be a need to leave the campus grounds.
(d) The COVID-19 Special Operations Room at Student Affairs Division will operate 24 hours a day and is contactable at 03-7967 3216.
(2) Matters related to Research Activities
(a) Heads of PTjs and Principal Investigators shall arrange a work rotation schedule for researchers involved in critical research activities that require continuous monitoring.
(b) All field work shall be postponed during this period.
(3) Matters related to Office Operations and Services
(a) Academic and administrative staff members shall work from home (WFH) with the exception of those who are involved in the University essential services (on rotation basis) subject to the discretion of their Heads of PTjs.
(b) Meetings shall be conducted via online or by using the appropriate electronic medium.
(4) Restrictions on Campus Entry and other Services
(a) Only Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya gates will be open throughout the said period.
(b) Public transportation i.e. public buses, taxis, e-hailing services are permitted to enter the campus.
(c) Cafeterias, sundry shops and laundry shops in the campus are operating as usual.
(d) All campus facilities i.e. library, outdoor gym, swimming pool etc. are closed during the said period.
(e) For inquiries on UM CMCO, the hotline (03-7967 3238) is available from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on working days.
