When should MCO be lifted?

In an interview with the News Strait Times newspaper, epidemiologist Professor Datuk Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud said the downward trend in cases was encouraging, but a two-week extension was crucial to give the authorities a clearer picture. He said that the number of recovered cases seems to outnumber new cases for several days, which is a good sign, however, he stresses that we are not out of the woods and would caution against complacency and if we lift the MCO too early there may be a resurgence of cases. He pointed out that although the signs indicate that the MCO is working, however, it is an artificially-induced situation. He said based on his calculation, the infectivity rate was at a reproductive rate of 1, instead of the below 1 target set by the Health Ministry.
