Congratulations to Ng Ai Kah for passing her PhD Viva with the title “Muscle Strength and its relationship with the dietary intake and physical activity level among Malaysian adolescents”. It was supervised by Assoc Prof Hazreen Abd Majid and Prof Noran Hairi. Thanks to the external examiners from Harvard Chan School of Public Health and the University of Queensland for their comments. One of her findings has discovered that energy, carbohydrate and fat intakes and physical activity score were positively correlated with handgrip strength while protein intake was negatively correlated with handgrip strength in males but not in females. The findings were published in BMJ Open – “Dietary intake, physical activity and muscle strength among adolescents: the Malaysian Health and Adolescents Longitudinal Research Team (MyHeART) study”.
