The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine would like to congratulate our DrPH candidate, Dr Rama Krishna Supramanian for winning the best poster award at the 5th Regional Conference of Occupational Health 2018 organised by the Society of Occupational and Environmental Medicine-MMA at the Hotel Royale Chulan Damansara from 13-15 September 2018.
Dr Rama Krishna presented his scientific poster titled ‘The Effective Strategies in Preventing Noise-Induced Hearing Loss: A Systematic Review’. He was awarded a cash prize of RM 500 and certificate. His poster demonstrated that a comprehensive multifactorial intervention that combines multiple strategies including key roles played by external leadership and work site managers, and training in proper use and fit of hearing protection devices is proposed as a method of choice for prevention of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss. Dr Rama Krishna is supervised by Dr Marzuki Isahak and Assoc Prof Dr Noran Naqiah Hairi.
