The Department organised a farewell lunch in honour of Dato Sirajoon Noor Ghani on the 3rd July 2008. Dato Sirajoon has been working in the Department for more than 10 years since his retirement from the civil service. His last appointment before coming to the University of Malaya is as the State Health Director for the State of Perak. During his tenure with the Department of SPM Dato Sirajoon Noor Ghani have been the Head of Department, Head of the Health Service Management Unit, and finally the Head of the SPM Department Postgraduate Section. Although Dato has formerly retired again, he will still be contributing to the department as invited lecturer and consultant whenever the needs arise.
