Asia Europe Clinical Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Medicine Programme

The Asia Europe Clinical Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Medicine Programme which is a programme sponsored by the European Commission under the Asia-Link Programme was launch by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Khaw Lake Tee at the Clinical Auditorium in Faculty of Medicine University of Malaya on the 19th November 2007.

The Asia Europe Clinical Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Medicine Programme is a research, training, curriculum development and knowledge transfer programme sponsored by grants from the European Commission. The centres that are involved in this programme are Julius Center, University Medical Center, Utrecht, the Netherlands, Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, Oxford University, Great Britain, University Hospital Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo, Jakarta, Indonesia and Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.

The launching was also attended by the Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof Ikram Shah, the Deputy Dean Prof Rosmawati, Prof Diederick E. Grobbee, Chair Julius Center and Professor of Clinical Epidemiology from the University Medical Center, Utrecht in the Netherlands and the Head of SPM Department Assoc Prof Awang Bulgiba.

Following the launching there was a press conference and also a meeting between the various researchers from the University of Malaya and the team from University Medical Center, Utrecht to discuss research collaboration.

The first workshop under this programme, “Advanced Diagnostic Research: Theory and Practice” will be held from 20-22 November 2007 in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.
