Community Residency Programme (CRP) is one of the two field programmes that are organised by the Department of SPM as part of the training for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery students. Each year the medical students who are in Phase IIIA will be divided into five groups and posted to five stations to conduct Rural Health Survey, Thematic Project and also visits to various sites of Public Health importance.
This year the programme was held from the 04 June 2007 to 29 June 2007. The four weeks programme is divided into 3 phases,
- Preparatory (in HTAR Klang) 04 – 09 June 2007
- Field Programme 10 – 24 June 2007
- Debriefing/Presentation (in HTAR Klang) 25 – 29 June 2007
The stations that were selected are Health District situated in rural parts of Peninsular Malaysia, they are
- Kubang Pasu in Kedah,
- Perak Tengah in Perak,
- Alor Gajah in Melaka,
- Bentong in Pahang, and
- Raub in Pahang
The five groups from the five stations presented their survey findings and thematic projects at the University of Malaya’s campus in Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang on the 27 and 28 June 2007. Dr Elangovan Subbiah the Medical Officer of Health of Perak Tengah District Health Office and Dr Hj Rosli Ismail the Medical Officer of Health of the Bentong District Health Office were present during the presentation.
