MBBS Phase IIIA examination 2006

In conjunction with the MBBS Phase IIIA Examination 2006, the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM) hosted the external examiner, David Koh, Head of the Department of Community, Occupational and Family Medicine at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

A formal discussion session was held on 13 November 2006 involving Professor Koh, academic staff from SPM, and representatives from Royal Perak College of Medicine. The session focused on key academic components, including the MBBS Phase IIIA examination, the Community Residency Programme, and the delivery of undergraduate public health education. This engagement provided a valuable platform for academic exchange, benchmarking, and strengthening curriculum quality.

The public health component of the MBBS Phase IIIA examination represents an integral part of the undergraduate medical curriculum, ensuring that future medical graduates are equipped with essential competencies in population health, disease prevention, and community-based practice.

In honour of Professor Koh’s visit and contributions as external examiner, the Department hosted a luncheon on 15 November 2006 at Sri Melaka Restaurant. The event was attended by Ikram Shah Ismail, Rosmawati Mohamed, and Mustafa Ali Mohd, together with academic staff from SPM.
