Wong Li Ping

Dr Wong Li Ping’s research has centred almost exclusively on social and behavioural medicine. Her current research activity focuses on behaviour and prevention studies. She has successfully secured grants and funding on an enormous range of subjects include: [1] research on risk behaviors (HIV/AIDS; e-cigarette use), [2] research on preventive behaviors (Cervical cancer; 2009 influenza H1N1 vaccine; dengue fever), [3] Community responses (Behavioral responses to emerging infectious diseases namely ZIKA virus infection, influenza H1N1; deceased organ and tissue donation; thalassemia screening), [4] sexual reproductive health research (dysmenorrheal and PMS; hysterectomy and detrimental effect on women psychosocial well-being; midlife crisis).

Recognizing the importance of behavioural component in medicine, Dr Wong recent research interest emphasize on bringing the gap between social behavioural and medical diagnosis, where her recent research interest focus surrounds the study of seroprevalence of dengue, H pylori, tick-borne diseases, and MERS-CoV. Dr Wong’s research also extends beyond behavioural medicine to environmental health. She has recently acquired the grant to study health impact and needs assessment of urban heat island phenomenon of the city of Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Dr Wong is also engaged as a registered Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultant with the Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia under the EIA Consultant Registration Scheme.
