On 2 October 2025, the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM), Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, conducted a forum titled “How to Survive Through Your DrPH Degree” as part of the Orientation Programme for new Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidates. Held in the SPM Studio, the session aimed to provide incoming students with practical insights and guidance to successfully navigate the programme and graduate on time.
Purpose of the Forum
The DrPH degree is a rigorous and multifaceted programme that integrates academic coursework, leadership training, and practice-based learning. Recognising the unique challenges faced by candidates, many of whom balance studies with professional responsibilities, this forum was designed to establish a tone for a realistic, supportive, and strategic approach to doctoral studies.
Moderator and Panellists
Moderated by Dr Bala Murali Sundram, the forum featured three faculty members with extensive experience mentoring postgraduate students:

- Dr Catherine Thamarai
- Dr Nur Nabila Abd Rahim
