The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, had the privilege of hosting Professor Dr Benjamin Cowling, the Programme External Assessor for the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme, from 19th to 21st March 2025. His visit was a significant step in ensuring the continuous improvement and excellence of the programme.
During the three-day visit, he conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the MPH programme, focusing on:
- The programme structure and content to ensure relevance and academic rigour.
- Learning strategies and curriculum delivery to enhance student engagement and knowledge acquisition.
- Student outcomes and achievements in relation to public health competencies.
- Discussions with faculty members and students to gather perspectives on the programme’s strengths and areas for enhancement.
His expert insights and recommendations will play a crucial role in refining the curriculum, teaching methodologies, and overall programme effectiveness, ensuring that the MPH programme meets both academic standards and industry expectations. The feedback gathered will also serve as a foundation for the upcoming curriculum review exercise, further strengthening the department’s commitment to providing a high-quality learning experience.
