The Department of SPM would like welcome Dr Bala Murali Sundram to the Department. He has joined us as a Medical Lecturer. He previously worked as the Principle Assistant Director for Surveillance, Surveillance Unit, Public Health Division, Johor State Health Department, Johor. Dr Bala is an alumnus of the Department; he completed his Master of Public Health in 2010 and continued with his Doctor of Public Health which he completed in 2015. The title of his thesis was “Effectiveness of Combined Relaxation Therapy in Reducing Stress, Anxiety and Depression Levels Among Malaysian Automotive Assembly Line Workers”. After the completion of his DrPH, he worked as the Medical Officer of Health in Kunak District Health Office, Sabah, Head of Occupational Health Unit, Environmental Health Research Centre, Institute of Medical Research (IMR), National Institute of Health (NIH), and Head of Biomedical Epidemiology Unit, Special Resource Centre, IMR, NIH.
His expertise and experience will be a valuable addition to the academic strength of the Department.
