In an interview with the Star newspaper, Professor Dr Sanjay Rampal said the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Sabah is being driven by three factors: (1) unmitigated community transmission, (2) localised socio-environmental factors that hamper interventions, and (3) difficulty in preventing transmission in closed system populations such as prisons and detention centres.
