COVID-19 – the window of opportunity is closing fast

In an interview with the News Strait Times press, Prof Datuk Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud said that the government need to act swiftly to tackle the current COVID-19 outbreak.

Among the measure suggested were to quickly isolate all the cases and place them in government or government-designated hospitals.

Then there needs to be an aggressive contact tracing effort to identify all people with contact with the cases.

Next, all returnees from Sabah should be quarantined for 14 days at government-designated quarantine centres. He said that no one should be exempted as the virus doesn’t discriminate.

Finally, a travel ban to and from Sabah will not be amiss.
