In an interview with the News Strait Times newspaper, Prof Dr Maznah Dahlui discusses the announcement by Russian scientists of the successful development of the COVID-19 vaccine. She said experts are still in the dark over the veracity of the claim as we have no means of verifying Russia’s claim, there were no published peer review article or data available for verification.
She said that there were still so many things that we don’t know about the claims. She further pointed out that normaly takes around 10 years to develop a new vaccine, and if we push for it then it may be possible to be completed in five years.
She futher stress that even with a vaccine there may still be no silver bullet against Covid-19. In the article Prof Maznah also discuss on the costing and the availability of a COVID-19 vaccine in Malaysia.
