In an article published by the Star newspaper, described how local universities are chipping in to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. They are working on every front, from sequencing the genome of the isolated SARS CoV 2 virus, developing a remote monitoring system for COVID-19 patients and helping to address the personal protective equipment shortages.
On the research front, Prof Datuk Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud leads a group of some 25 scientists to understand the epidemiology of COVID-19 in Malaysia, to map out the disease and modelling the disease progression.
