The department would like to congratulate Dr Nurul Haniza Md Yusof on successfully completing her DrPH viva voce held on the 28th February 2019. The title of her thesis is ‘Internet engagement and its association with weight parameters among Malaysian adolescents’. The study aim was to explore internet engagement and its association with weight parameters (BMI, percentage of body fat, and waist circumference) and academic performance among adolescents in Malaysia. The findings of the study suggest that internet engagement or time spent on the internet were not associated with any of the weight parameters but maybe beneficial for academic performance (national examination at 15 years old). This study showed the internet if it was used appropriately for this age group can be beneficial to them. Dr Nurul Haniza was supervised by Associate Professor Dr Hazreen Abdul Majid and Prof Dr Tin Tin Su.
