When will the CMCO be lifted?

In an interview with the News Strait Times newspaper, Professor Datuk Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud said that it was difficult to predict how long the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will be required before there is a declining trend. He said it is hard to say at this time what Rt value and dip in cases that are needed to be achieved for the lifting of the CMCO.

Dr Awang Bulgiba said Sabah was still a red zone despite the boost in resources this week. The number of severe cases seems to be rising rapidly in Sabah. There are more than 3,000 active cases in Sabah now. The fear is that the situation is threatening to overwhelm the Intensive Care Units in hospitals there

He said that the next two weeks are crucial if the number of new cases plateau or there is a downward trend, then we will see some improvement within the next six to eight weeks.

He said the issue was not the SOP or the CMCO, but compliance, if everyone complies to the SOP, then the CMCO will work.
