Professor Malcolm Sim is a Professor of Occupational and Environmental Health and the Director of the Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health (MonCOEH). in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University, Australia. He has also been appointed as Adjunct Associate Professor of the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services Washington, DC, USA.
The research program of the MonCOEH is nominated as one of the ‘Research Strengths’ of the Department of Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. The Centre comprises a research team of about 25 staff, including four senior research fellows, four research fellows, research assistants, two data managers, a research nurse, doctoral students and administration staff. The main focus of the research program is in occupational and environmental epidemiology, with a special emphasis on risk factors of occupational and environmental disease (mainly cancer and respiratory disease), exposure assessment, occupational disease surveillance, veteran health research and the health effects of environmental exposures to arsenic, pesticides and other environmental contaminants.
He was the external examiner for the Master of Public Health (Occupational Health) final examination in 2008.
